Ultra High Resolution

 

This smallest world map has a total dimension of a 1/1000th of a millimeter and the scale is therefore 1:40 000 000 000 000. It has been produced by Proxy-Writer (the MS DOS predecessor of NanoMaker) in connection with a scanning electron microscope (UHV FE-SEM HB 501). The substrate was a SiN membrane covered with the electron sensitive material AlF3. The Russian scientists V. Nikolaichik and I. Khodos created the "NanoWorld" at the Chernogolovka Institute of Microelectronic Technology.
